Bassist Nicholas D'Amato is a veteran of the New York City music scene. As a sideman he has been the propulsion for tons of groups spanning all stylistic borders. He's currently Musical Director for Lizz Wright, touring to promote her new release, "The Orchard"(Verve). He's kept busy recording albums and tracks for some of NY's finest, as well as television jingles and film scores. From 2002-2006 he toured the world with contemporary blues heavyweight, Popa Chubby. In 2006 he released his own record, "Nullius In Verba" (Buckyball), and D'Amato stepped out to become the leader. Nicholas D'Amato's Royal Society takes seriously its London namesake's mandate to experiment freely at all costs. This band/society is tasked with performing challenging new music without the burdens of style and category.
