- I am Atlanta-based multi-media artist, Justin Curfman
(http://www.justincurfman.com). I am working on a feature-length stop-motion
animated film titled, "Ticks". The film recently received a fiscal sponsorship
from I.M.A.G.E. Film and Video of Atlanta and we're in the process of raising
funds for the project.
On Saturday, June 7, 2008 there will be a "Ticks" fundraiser show taking
place at The Five Spot in Little Five Points - Atlanta, GA. There will be
performances from 10+ local bands (including Slow Motion Crash, Feeding Fingers,
Jeffrey Butzer & The Midwives, and many others), performances from The Center for
Puppetry Arts, Blast Off Burlesque, film screenings from local and international
filmmakers and animators (including a short from Guy Maddin), a silent art
auction, and plenty of other things as an effort to drive people in the door.
"Ticks" will be a feature-length stop-motion animated puppet film created by
Justin Curfman with assistance from locals only. The film will be financed by
private charitible donations from individuals, tax-deductible/charitible
contributions from local businesses, and from admission prices and
art/entertainment sales from events like this. This film is expected to take at
least two years to create. Everyone involved will, of course, get credit
recognition as a donor or participant and those of you that have artwork sold at
the auction will receive a percentage of sales.
This event will be a fundraiser and networking party at once. We will have
people from Turner Broadcasting, I.M.A.G.E., Top Shelf Comics,
A.S.I.F.A.-Atlanta, Stickfigure Records, The Center for Puppetry Arts, and
whoever else we can corral into the place. So, this might serve as a good
opportunity for exposure for a varied audience of artists and representatives
wthin different branches of the local art/media community.
We need local and non-local graphic artists, photographers, and filmmakers to
submit/donate work for this event and for the silent art auction. Please get in
