Crayola Lectern
Media

Radio:
Totallywired Is a site all about Brighton music; based around Marcus O'Dair's weekly music show on Juice 107.2fm the site has masses of useful info for the Brighton gig-goer and gig-giver including a band directory. Probably the definitive music site for Brighton.
Totallyradio provide eclectic online radio choices. Recommend the Daily Show which plays a wide range of good, new leftfield music.
Crooked Stylus Darius Akashic's drone and vibration fest all wrapped up in one online radio show. Expect Coil, Harmonia, Sunn O))), Terry Riley, Acid Mothers Temple, Can - you know the score. Kosmische musik.
Resonance fm London based internet and terrestrial radio station covering all bases of "other" music and breathing life into London's airwaves.
Claire Kember, who used to be an Xfm dj, has until recently been the voice of Brighton with her Daily Shows and Totally Wired shows. She has tirelessly championed the innovators and was the best thing about radio in Brighton.

Magazines:
Plan B is a damn fine music magazine, Everett True's latest venture since the seminal Careless Talk Costs Lives magazine. Put together by truly dedicated people who continue to enrich my life with the music they love. Great website too as well as a Plan B radio show, courtesy of ET,Jon Slade and Steph Minkie at Totallyradio.
Beard comes highly recommended as a superb music/arts printed fanzine/magazine from Glasgow. The issue I have just got has tremendous interviews with Robert Wyatt and Shirley Collins. It really is quite lovely so don't be shy, go order one.
Loose Lips Sink Ships was a stylish quarterly music magazine featuring the ever fine photography of Steve Gullick and emotive writing of Stevie Chick among others.
The Wire magazine has a rather functional/serious/minimalist website; however the magazine covers a fantastic range of "other" music and is excellently laid out for such a wordy tome and is, as such an indispensible adjunct to any creative music lover's paper life.
Stool Pigeon is a free music mag which has some great writing and choices of subject matter. Looks fabulous too for such a small scale operation.

Photography:
Greg Neate is a photographer in London and Brighton who takes damn fine band shots and his pictures have graced such legendary pages as Careless Talk Costs Lives. Plan B and Artrocker magazines. He has reels of unseen La Momo footage from their various adventures on the live circuit.
Toby Amies is a photographer, writer, film maker and gentleman adventurer from Brighton whose photos of Crayola grace this very site.
The Museum Of Unfinished Projects by the aforementioned gentleman, Mr Toby Amies causes Crayola much mirth.

Digitalis:
Moshi Machine is a cutting edge Digital media enterprise based in Brighton who marry top ideas with the ability to see them through. As well as an impressive music-related cv, Julian Cope and Roky Erikson being but two clients, they do a wealth of interactive installations, games, animations and more. Rona Innes and Al Macdonald are the brains behind Moshi Machine as well as being full-time members of La Momo.
Crayola Lectern's Wonderful World Of Rant provides Crayola with a place to let off steam.

Music Makers:
Arvo Pärt Estonian 'serialist' composer whose music is utterly powerful in it's overtone beauty. Bells, voices, magic.
Beck Diminuitive genius scientologist music giant who shape shifts most excellently around the musical forms.
Brindle Dynamic forward thinking Aussies who contain amongst their ranks former Crayola comrade, Simon Walker. New album, "It Takes An Army" just about out now.
Can first came to the attention of Crayola with the track Mother Sky, after which nothing was the same anymore. Pioneering German experimentalists from the 70's.
Cardiacs How to describe the majesty and splendour of Cardiacs? Their day will come despite various unimaginative folk who dissed this truly magnificent English band. Hurrah for Cardiacs, and hurrah again.
Nick Cave He of The Birthday Party and Bad Seeds, resident of Hove and one of the best living writer/performer/singers ever ever.
Clor I was told they sound like Map and Rocket Horsehead Nebula. Well, that quite a recommendation to me.
Julian Cope Iron-age fortresses, shamanism, krautrock, garage rock all wrapped up in English pastoralism from Head Heritage.
Death In Vegas Excellent site for an excellent 'band' who started life as DJ's and bring that sensibility into their musical forms.
The Dandy Warhols Portland, Oregon's local treasures and stalwarts of a thriving creative scene over there.
Dead Meadow Barbiturate space-rock, ambient guitar drones, H.P Lovecraft-inspired blues folk.
William D Drake Pianist, composer, former Cardiac with an ear for that special moment.
Brian Eno Brian Eno, as well as creating some of the most sublime beauty ever committed to tape under his own name is also responsible for the production and creation of many other artists work. An understated yet crucial presence in modern music.
The Flaming Lips An inspired take on 'rock' music, evocative, sad, childlike, carefree and innovative. Crayola once participated in the famous parking lot experiments in Austin, Tx.
Foetus There was a young man called Jim Thirlwell who wrote and recorded awesome masterpieces under the Foetus and Steroid Maximus monickers...and he still does, thank the lord.
Kid Loco Has produced Departure Lounge and remixed La Momo and is the dude's dude.
Robyn Hitchcock Did I ever tell you about the time Crayola played oboe with Robyn around the USA? Probably, huh. Here's his wonderfully impossible-to-navigate-around website or, if you prefer try Fegmania for up to date news on this English genius's doings.
North Sea Radio Orchestra Another reason to rejoice in being from these shores. No discernable oil-rigs but riches nevertheless from the deep.
Terry Riley Click and learn about California's pioneering composer, Terry Riley. There are more fantastic ideas in his head than is good for any minimalist.
Michael Rother The man from Neu! and Harmonia, two highly influential and forward thinking German groops.
Sonic Youth Super cool yet super human, it all goes to show you can be married and still rock in an interesting way. All hail the mighty Yoof.
Sparklehorse Crayola first heard Sparklehorse whilst on tour in Sweden with Supermodel. He did not speak for some six hours after hearing the awesome Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot.
Spiritualized Did I ever tell you about the day Crayola Lectern played bass with Spiritualized in a rehearsal space in SE1? Probably, huh.
Stereolab Makers of delicious squelchy music and frankly a bloody great 'groop.'
Suicide French site dedicated to Martin Rev and Alan Vega. Don't do it, by the way.
Damo Suzuki Wonderful human being whose never ending tour has included Crayola's input. Former vocalist with the massively influential Can.
John Tavener English composer whose works have become increasingly religious but in a good way. He once wrote a piece for an inter-school choir led by Crayola. It was quite a dissonant affair which we performed with Bedford's Phoenix Orchestra (it was also written in the ancient greek alphabet which didn't make it any easier). I don't think we were up to it. Sorry John.
Robert Wyatt Crayola's unwitting mentor, Robert Wyatt has made some of the most compelling and satisfyingly real music. We are all enriched by Robert Wyatt.
