The Luxury

On the tail of opening for Coldplay at T.D Banknorth Garden, Boston’s best Brit Poppers, The Luxury, embarked on their first tour to California with many, many highlights including some unknowing contest victories, trespassing on Joni Mitchell’s property and a crazy pitbull.

The 14th Annual Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival. We rolled in about 30 minutes before our set and had a great show - little did we know we were winning a competition as we played.
Daanen decides to play matador with the Toyota Sienna LE that would be our home on wheels for the next 10 days.

At an art exhibit/film screening in LA, The Luxury points out that headphones hanging as an art piece are still rather like headphones.
The dessert served the next night at the Temecula Awards Dinner at Pechanga Casino. Not pictured: Totally Amazing Food, casino floor where Daanen and Jason lost $3 before deciding that gambling is lame.

As the unwitting winners of the aforementioned competition, The Luxury played their first live acoustic set to about 800 film industry professionals, each at $150 a seat.

The Luxury is pleased to find that Que Sera, the first venue on the tour, did indeed hang our posters. From what we
could tell, no one else did. For shame!
We got to eat the same food and drink the same wine for free, so BOO-YAH!!
This was at the awards dinner and is probably the coolest thing we saw indoors on the whole tour. Purpose? Doubtful. Awesome? Oh, yes.
The “What are you gonna do?” tour continues - how did we pack this thing? Note: severely damaged road case being held together with electrical tape for the rest of the tour. Again, courtesy of Continental Airlines.
The only evidence of us playing The Casbah in San Diego - big shout out to the Cold War Kids’ label, who kept 300 fans waiting outside for two hours while the “local” show took place rather than just letting them in. Nice one, guys.
The Luxury under a man-made stone arch on Frank Zappa’s property in Hollywood Hills. Some would say “trespassing”, but we say “photo op”. Right next-door: Joni Mitchell’s house, where CSNY wrote “Our House”. About that very house.
Santa Monica presented The Luxury with our absolute cutest most adorable fans ever - rockin’ the hottest T-shirt of fall 2008.
May May, the most hyperactive pit bull/retriever mix ever, wants you to know that she’ll miss us and you just try to get this tennis ball out of her mouth. Go on, try it.
Adios, California - thanks for the memories, the sunshine, and the company. We’ll be back!
