• United Nations 11th Annual Run for Peace

• Four Great Reasons will make this Run for Peace especially enjoyable and meaningful for you!
  
  1. A great place to be! Come run (jog or walk!) along the 5 or 10 km “Path for Peace” in Cesar Chavez park along beautiful SF Bay. Lovely season for a Peace Park program! Many prizes: for female and male, juniors, seniors , others.
  
  2. Celebrate the International Day of Peace on September 20th! Bring friends and family on this day designated by the United Nations for people around the world to share your interest and concerns about global peace and security.
  
  3. Support Peace! You and your friends are invited to make a pledge toward the global dream of peace for all. In the past two Runs, participants at this event have raised more than $14,000. This year, the funds you can raise will be split to make an impact on two meaningful beneficiaries of contributions:
  
  a) Help feed innocent children and other civilian victims of war in places like Darfur and Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Congo -- where survivors or refugees are fighting for their lives. Funds will be sent through theFriends of the UN’s World Food Program – the world’s largest food organization that annually saves 100,000’s of lives.
  
  b) Programs to educate students about Peace and ensure that the next generation of youthful leaders learn about conflict resolution, through the expansion of programs run by theUnited Nations Association of the East Bay
  
  4. Peace Festivities and food will enrich this special day, make it than ever fun than ever before. There’ll be ethnic foods, live music, multicultural dance, kite-flying and more surprises – all to honor peace. The fabulous Yore Folk Ensemblewill organize this part of the Peace program, and is a featured co-sponsor of the 11th Run for Peace.
