...I don't know what its been, but since age 11 and my first trio the drummer has always been my main accomplice, drummers have always been a big favorite of mine as a listener .
Mark Cretella (my first drummer, who went on to great things including stage man.for the likes of George Benson)and I would ride on one bicycle for six miles (1 way)to by records at Krowns Record Store.Man we got our copy of All Along The Watchtower 45rpm got back and played it and the flip side a hundred times.
When I played with Carmine Appice in Phila. Pa. I was taking a solo and looked down and locked in with his bass drum foot,I was in heaven.
Once in Germany Terry Bozzio and I talked until 4:30 am about Frank Zappa and all things music,a great hang.
And Kenwood Denard always asking me "...you know what I mean ?" and his incredible over flip slap 5.
George Hart who turned me on to The Mahavishnu Orch.,Pat Martino in the beginning when it was just starting. And Miles Davis Jack Johnson album spun 100 times
Chickie Ragan-one of the few people who have brought me to my knees laughing so hard-one of the funniest people I have ever known. And Danny Blaze one of the few drummers who could talk harmonicly as well as rhythmic.
And my dear friend Joe Senior could crack me up as much as Ragan, and the great Buddy Rich music we would trade.
So here's a list of some of my favorite drummers.
