The Change

Hey Everybody!
I know it's been to long since I have wrote and I do apologize for that.  So without further ado here we go!
I have had alot of people come up to me and ask me about the change with me.  What change you ask?  Well February I decided that enough was enough!  Oh not with the group or anything.  lol.  No the change was about my weight and health.  I was tipping the scales at 205lbs!  Some may say that that's not alot or I didn't look that heavy.  I heard that alot.  But the truth is.... I was heavy.  Very heavy and "overweight"!  I did not feel all that great when I was at 205lbs and I wanted to stick around and have a healthy and active life.  Let me tell you that "road life" can get the best of you IF you let it.  I let it for a good long time and now I have done something about it.  people want to know what I did to loose my weight.  Well I will tell you.  First off you have to want to loose it.  I mean REALLY WANT TO LOOSE IT!  I made up my mind that i was going to loose 45lbs by NQC time.  Guess what?  I did it!  I did it the old fashioned way to.  With smart eating habits and excersize!  Yeah that's right EXCERSIZE!!  No diets where you have to count calories or starve yourself to death.  For me the trick was to change my life style.  That meant the way I was living my daily life.  I used to watch a lot of tv or play video games to pass the time on the bus and some at home. I would eat at 12am or later after a concert and at home since I am a night owl and stay up later than most.  lol!  But now, I don't watch much tv or play video games as much.  Instead I go for walks on the road and I do my excesizes on the bus.  At home I workout as well.  The trick is to get active and stay that way.  You have to be determined in your mind to be able to accomplish your goals.  That's true in anything in life and I apply that to everything I do now.  So here's a look into what I do at home and on the road.

HOME
Workout with my blowflex for 30min per day (Mon-Wed)
Ride my stationary bike for 30 min per day (Mon-Wed)
I make sure I eat one good meal a day. (Don't over eat)
For a snack I will eat yogurt
For a refreshing drink it's Ruby Red grapefruit juice instead of soft drinks
I drink alot of water.  (I like Deer Park water)
Then at night I will eat my Frosted Mini Wheats

THE ROAD
Get up and walk
Go eat a good meal
Snack on Yogurt
Drink my Ruby Red grapefruit juice
After the concert I eat my Frosted Mini Wheats
Do 100 situps and 100 squats
Do my dumbell workout

Before at 205lbs After at 160lbs

That's it!  That is what I do and I feel so much better and healthier.  I don't count calories... I just eat sensible!
Here's a little advice... when you don't feel like doing you excersizing for the day... DO IT ANYWAY!!  It will payoff!  This is what has worked for me and I did it on my own and my own way.  I went from a size 44 coat and a 38 pants to a 40 coat and a 30 pants!  It can be done but you have to make up your mind and stick with it.  It's okay to reward yourself every now and then but don't go overboard!  haha  The old saying is true "Eat to live NOT live to eat!"   So for anyone out there who desires to lose the weight, I am living proof that it can be done.  I have went from 205lbs. to 158lbs.  Now it's maintaining what you lose by proper eating habits and excersize.  No diets but a lifestyle change for the better!  I have had numerous people come up to me and say that I have inspired them to get back in shape and to get active again.  For that I am grateful and I wish you all the success!  If anyone ever wants to talk about these things, you can always send me an email and let me know.  Some may say that they have gained weight because of an injury or some sort.  Yeah, I have back trouble and I still do but it's better than it used to be.  So stay focused and determined to reach your goals no matter how far they may seem away.  You can do it!

Until next time....
Jerry

Comments about "The Change"

Congratulations, Jerry! You look great! I admire you for your determination to change your lifestyle. You have inspired me to make some changes in my lifestyle, too. God bless you.
Hey jerry when you said you used a dumbell you didn't mean Jerry Kelso did you? Ha Ha Ha to comment back to me e-mail is calftaylor2008@yahoo.com
Way to go, Jerry. I am not quite as disciplined as you on the exercise (I do situps and squats, but NOT 100/DAY!), but I've lost about 40 lbs. over the past year or so myself - mainly by eating less and eating healthier. I went from 245, down to around 205, but I'm 6'2". I have suits that fall off of me now and I fully understand the part about feeling 100% better. I used to have a lot of back and neck problems, and since I lost the extra baggage, I haven't had any problems at all (knock on wood). What people who haven't committed to losing don't realize is that once you start eating less - and healthier - you don't at all feel like you're starving yourself. I don't crave pizzas at midnight, because I know it would come back to bite me and I don't particularly care to gain back the extra weight. Congrats again - I'm sure you will be an inspiration. I've enjoyed your singing since I got to know you with the Kingsmen. God bless. Bob Sellers/Capstone Quartet
Wow Jerry! That is so awesome...I'm happy for you! Btw, your singing on "I want to live my life for You" gives me chills!
Jammer, just decided to look at your website to see where you all were and saw the CHANGE! WOW! Congratulations on your hard work and sticking to your workouts. I could use a change myself. God Bless, Glenn
