Catherine was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up in Sunnyvale, California. At the age of 9 playing and writing music on the guitar and piano soon became one of her favorite pastimes. Being self-taught, Catherine has developed a love for playing guitar, singing, playing keyboards and writing music.
When Catherine was in her 20's, she began playing in clubs throughout the Bay Area as a lead singer/guitarist for a local hard-rock band, Charade. Although she loved playing in a band, Catherine wanted to explore other styles of music and decided to give the hard-rock scene a break for the time being. During her hiatus, Catherine went back to school to complete her college education and received her degree in Sociology/Behavioral Science. Soon afterwards, she married and then had two children and settled in the Santa Cruz area.
In the fall of 2006, her youngest started pre-school part-time. Knowing full well that music had been what she has loved most about herself and represented who she really is, Catherine grasped this time to finally make her dream of recording a solo cd a realization. It was difficult at first, as she not only had to figure out what she wanted to record but "how" to record. Nevertheless, in almost exactly one year to the date, Catherine finished recording her debut cd, Paradise Swamp!
Catherine's love for guitar & keys has playing has evolved into a unique style of progressive rock and fusion which is evident in many of her compositions. For her, writing music is easy. It's the arranging and playing with proficiency that requires a little work. For Catherine, music is an expression of emotion. "There are no preconceived ideas as to what the melody or song is "supposed" to sound like at the start. As I write, I'm taken on a journey and not knowing where I am going is exciting, adventurous, and pure enjoyment. No one else needs to hear it if you don't want them to. You are doing it for yourself. Live for the moment."
Since Catherine's release of Paradise Swamp last November, the accolades have continued streaming in. Because of her unique style and abilities as a musician, Catherine's music is now being played on many internet radio shows and stations throughout the world. She has been selected as a featured artist on websites & radio stations and is featured in April's issue of 20th Century Guitar magazine. Currently, Catherine is working on a number of recording projects as a guest guitarist and has already started writing new songs for her next solo release.
