And last, everyone finally agreed to the RE-release of my very first recording project...from 1969!! The album "Come to the Water" was released in 1970 and has just now been released on CD. If you want to hear where I started out...here's your chance! Well, we must just be getting to that age when we start sending people we love on to heaven before us. The 33 year old son of an old friend was killed in a car accident in California recently. He was just a year younger than my son, John, and I remember taking trips together as families and watching him grow up. Besides his great parents, he left behind a daughter and a pregnant wife, so pray for all of them. Of course, I very selfishly went to the phone immediately to call all my kids and grandkids and make sure everyone was okay. Cindy and I flew to California to celebrate some things. Most of this will be in the Chronicles (newsletter) as well. We were celebrating the August birthdays for my sister, my nephew and me and the early Sept birthday of my son-in-law. We were also celebrating that my daughter passed her final board to become a Marriage and Family therapist in California, one niece sat for her California Bar Exam and the other niece just returned from a 6 month missionary trip to orphanages in the Phillipines, and Cindy got accepted into nursing school. So...here are some pix...and you can read more about the ongoing ministry of Balm and upBeat! in the Chronicles. Blessings, Marsha and Cindy ![]() ![]() ![]()
"If Larry Norman is to be called the father of Christian Rock, then Marsha Stevens certainly deserves to be known as the mother of contemporary Christian music, a title that Christian Century and others have bestowed upon her. She was the leader of what is considered to be the world's first contemporary Christian music group, Children of the Day, and she has continued as a solo artist to produce albums of worship-oriented and edifying adult contemporary pop. As such, she remains the progenitor of what, by 2002, would become the single most popular genre in the contemporary Christian music market." - Excerpt from "The Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music", Sept. 2002
